After two decades of victorious career path and genuine service to the people here and abroad, it’s now time for the Engel Carianite Batch 1997 to be home from where they’ve started, their alma mater, Notre Dame of Dadiangas College (now, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University).
August 3 and 4, 2017 was just ordinary days for many, but for Engel Carianite Batch 1997, it was very memorable and very special. Different expressions of excitement were seen on their faces. They were giggling to hug and greet everyone after being away for 20 years. All the memories were as clear as crystal waters, and the house was filled with laughter and chitchats just like the old times.
To celebrate their 20th anniversary as graduates of NDDC, they offered a mass of thanksgiving, honoring the guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Marcellin Champagnat for their successful careers for the last 20 years and for the safe arrival of their batch mates from other part of the world.
As part of their celebration and giving back to their alma mater, last august 3, 2017, the alumni conducted a seminar on National Nursing Core Competency Standards to the fourth year nursing students of NDDU, highlighting the roles of the beginning nurses and instilling to the students the vision of the Philippine Nurses Association which states “Filipino Nurses: The Best for Filipinos and the Choice of the World”; and also aligned to the vision of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) 2015. The lecture was given by Mr. Ser Rosenkranz Espartero, RN, MAN; the Accreditation coordinator of NDDU.
Another lecture was given by Ms. Ma. Razel Recoperto-Bustria, MPM, RN, Nurse IV of the Provincial Health Office of Sarangani Province. The lecture was about Integrated Management on Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), which focuses on the technical updates on how to care for the sick child. The former and the latter speakers were both alumni of NDDC and part of Engel Carianite batch 1997. The students also received from the batch the modules of IMCI for their reference and can be used for their review before taking the nursing board exam.
The fourth year nursing students leapt for joy when it was announced that they are allowed to join the school-based immunization at Alabel, Sarangani Province and had the first-hand experience of giving vaccines to the selected junior high school students of Alabel Central Integrated SPED Center, with the clinical instructors and nursing alumni supervision. Indeed, another peculiar experience for our fourth year nursing students.
This school-based immunization was an initiative of the nursing alumni in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH). The students of Alabel Central Integrated SPED Center were given the Measles Rubella and Tetanus Diptheria vaccines.
After the service to the community, the alumni continued their activities in one of the private resorts in Glan, Sarangani.
Twenty years of love, passion and service for the people and they will always be forever grateful to those who were responsible in molding them to become what they have become today. Mabuhay Engel Carianite Batch 1997! Mabuhay NDDU.
