THE GUIDANCE PROGRAM

The Guidance Program is a set of specialized activities planned and organized for the purpose of assisting all types of clientele realize their full potentials to the fullest and achieve optimum growth and development as persons. It consists of traditional and special set of services designed to achieve goals and objectives of the total Guidance Program in consonance with the institutional goals and objectives of the school. It is managed and administered professionally by people trained in Guidance and Psychological services whose duties and functions are defined by the administration with sufficient support from all school, personnel, para- professionals, students and the community.

1. Individual Analysis
A developmental process of collecting, recording and utilizing information for the purpose of helping individuals understand themselves, and helping counselors, teachers, administrators and parents understand the learners and realize the kind of environment needed to reinforce and support healthy psychological growth and development.

2. Information
Educational Information:
facts and data about all types of present and probable future educational or training opportunities and requirements including curricular and co-curricular offerings, requirements for placement and conditions and challenges of students life.
Occupational Information:
facts and data about the world of work, companies and organizations, positions, jobs, entrance requirements into a career, conditions of work, rewards offered, patterns of advancements, existing and predicted supply and demand of workers and jobs forecasting
Personal–Social Information:
facts and data about the opportunities and influences of people which will help understand themselves better and to improve their relationship with one another. Included but not constituting the whole, are such broad areas of information as “understanding self” and “ getting along with others” as well as such specific areas as boy-girl relationship, manner and etiquette, leisure time activities, personal grooming, social behavior, home and family relations, financial planning and healthful living. Information regarding residence halls, boarding houses, and financial aid are also provided.

3. Counseling Services
Counseling is the heart of guidance. The counseling relationship is a human helping relationship, a relationship between the person in need and the helper, who maybe a counselor, teacher, administrator, staff parents, friend or a peer.

4. Testing Services
The center is equipped with a variety of standardized test. These are designed to measure abilities, aptitudes, intelligence, values, interest and gain better understanding of one’s personality. Test results are utilized for placement, scholarship, employment (local) and for students to guide them in making correct decision. Result are also utilize for teachers to better understand the behavior of the learners and their potential for growth, and for the administrators to discover educational areas in which the kind of environment is needed to reinforce and sustain healthy growth and development.

5. Follow-up Services
It is a type of service that usually takes place after meeting the client. This is one way of gathering information regarding the status of the client after receiving services from the Guidance Center

OTHER PROGRAM AND SERVICES

Group Guidance
Self-help sessions and other activities that offer opportunities for developing positive social attitudes and establishing healthy relationship. This Program is effected through PGS or the Personal Growth Session, the Barkadahan sa PF and the program for homosexuality.
Research
It’s one of the programs of the Guidance center that aim to establish baseline data out of surveys, correlation studies, and other experiments made for making good academic decisions
Scholarship
All types of scholarship grants provided by the school, governments, NGO’s and individual funding institution are coordinated into one office. This will provide a centralized information system to all who seek financial aid and assistance. Seminars are provided to all grantees for self-development and understanding. One of the new programs conceptualized by the center is the creation of the Scholar for Scholar Program. Former scholar and GIA’s of the school will give their pledge to support those who are financially handicapped
College Parent’s Day or PTCA
A program conceptualized by the Guidance Center Based on the parents’ recommendation. Issues regarding their sons and daughters’ growth, development and performance in school are discussed.
Community Extension
Extension services of the Guidance Center are of two type. The school-based: assisting other schools in developing their own guidance programs, growth session, homeroom programming, seminars and workshops. The other one is the community-based-in coordination with other units under the Students Personnel Services Areas, the center provided sessions and other emotional-development-enhancing activities to the people of an identified depressed Barangay
Students Development Program
These are students based workshop aim to help student achieve understanding of their own self by helping others grow and adjust to new challenges

Other services: Job Forecasting, Happy Gram, Residence Hall Info, Certifications, Provincial testing, and Data Bank
