Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) proudly congratulates Rogen A. Doronila and Leonora L. Mingo on the publication of their research article, โMathematical Proof as Disciplinary Discourse: Verbal-Symbolic Meaning-Making in Graduate Proof Writing,โ in the International Journal of Linguistics and Translation Studies, Volume 7, Issue 4, pages 63โ81.
The study examines how language and mathematical symbols work together in constructing mathematical proofs. Through a qualitative analysis of 20 graduate-level proofs, the researchers explored how written explanations introduce assumptions, connect logical steps, and communicate conclusions. Their findings highlight that clear explanations do not always guarantee complete mathematical justification, emphasizing the importance of both effective communication and sound reasoning in mathematics education.
The research also underscores the value of annotation and revision in helping students develop clearer explanations and stronger mathematical reasoning.
This scholarly achievement reflects NDDUโs commitment to research, interdisciplinary learning, and academic excellence.Read the full article: https://doi.org/10.36892/ijlts.v7i4.790
