Business College Dean, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗥. 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗼, advanced local independent publishing this month through a successful local book launch and a sold-out run at a national trade event.
Dr. Custodio, one of the founding members of the Dadiangas Writers Society, helped spearhead the independent release as part of a trial self-published printing initiative for local writers.
On September 5, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 debuted eight poetry zines under the collection “𝙄𝙣𝙠 & 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.” The launch featured 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝘿𝙧. 𝘾𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙤 – 𝙀𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙨, 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨 – 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖, 𝙍𝙤𝙢𝙖, 𝙀𝙯𝙚𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙞𝙯𝙯, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮’𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙤𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙮 – 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜.
The independent collection gained wider traction when it was showcased at the Indie Publishers Collab PH booth during the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) at the SMX Convention Center Manila from September 9 to 13, selling out completely during the exhibition.
The project also integrated community advocacy. Selections from the poetry anthology are currently on display at the GenSan Psych Mental Health Hub throughout September in collaboration with Rhymes of PEG group to 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.
